Working Together to Make It Happen
The district was interested in creating a Community Construction Committee. The purpose of this committee is to review documents, drawings, and other construction-related items, and to make recommendations to the School Board. Also, the committee is to update the community at large as to the progress of this project.
The Community Construction Committee
Chairperson – Jefferson Hills
Mrs. Pozycki was a School Board member at West Jefferson Hills for eight years and a past President of the Board. She is employed by the University of Pittsburgh as a Facilities Management expert. She holds her Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Magill holds her degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Point Park College. She has worked for various firms but currently is the owner and president of A&F Engineering. She is also an Adjunct Teacher for the Community College of Allegheny County. She is a 1995 graduate of the Thomas Jefferson High School.
Mr. Pancoast is a 1971 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. He then attended Grove City College, earning his Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with post-graduate work from the California University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Pancoast was a teacher in the West Jefferson Hills School District for 36 years, retiring in 2012.
Mr. O’Hare is a 1998 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and holds a Bachelors of Science with Distinction in Civil Engineering. Since graduation, he has held engineering positions in several Pittsburgh-based firms and is currently employed by the Port Authority of Allegheny County. He is considered an expert in foundations, geotechnical development, highway development, and more.
Mr. Risley earned his Bachelors of Science in Marine Engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He completed his Masters in Energy Resources from the University of Pittsburgh in 1985. He has authored and presented on various topics related to energy engineering and is currently employed by Life Cycle Engineering, Inc.

The Selection Process
The district publicly advertised for persons interested in serving on this committee to submit a letter of interest with any supporting documentation. The Board was especially interested to be certain every community was represented on the committee and that the participants had experience in construction, engineering, a building-related field, or education.
The district received more than 30 letters of interest from district residents. After close review of the information, the School Board named the individuals listed above to serve on this important committee.

Upcoming Committee Meetings
The Community Construction Committee meets once per month to complete their duties. Upcoming meeting dates are as follows:
10/12/17 @ 5:30 p.m.**
**This meeting will be held in the District Job Trailer on the new TJHS construction site.
Meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and are typically held in the cafeteria of the current Thomas Jefferson High School.
